How we teach it

Taught in all four skills, marked like the real paper

GCSE Spanish is listening, speaking, reading and writing, each worth 25 per cent, and the grade usually hides in the skill a student avoids. Your tutor works from the exact specification, AQA 8692 or Edexcel 1SP1, Foundation or Higher, and every week touches all four skills so nothing gets quietly skipped.

Vocabulary comes from the board’s own lists and is tested every lesson. Past papers arrive early and often, marked against the real mark scheme so your child learns what the writing paper actually pays for. And because the speaking test happens in our building, it is rehearsed here for months before it is recorded here.

  • Weekly speaking rehearsal with recorded mock tests
  • Board vocabulary lists, drilled and retested
  • Foundation or Higher settled with mock evidence, not guesswork
  • Same tutors and same prices in centre or online

One-to-one Spanish is £40 an hour. Core subjects run from £12.50 an hour on our GCSE plans, and the full price list is on the fees page. We teach GCSE French the same way.

Common questions

GCSE Spanish, asked and answered

Can private candidates sit the GCSE Spanish speaking exam with you?

Yes. We conduct and record the Spanish speaking test at our own centre during the board’s April and May window, so private candidates complete all four components with us. It is included in the £450 Birmingham entry fee.

How much is GCSE Spanish exam entry?

£450 at our Birmingham centre, including the board fee, all four papers, the hosted speaking test and invigilation. Our other centres cost a little more; see the fees page for exact figures.

Which Spanish specifications do you enter?

AQA GCSE Spanish (8692) and Edexcel GCSE Spanish (1SP1), Foundation or Higher, plus IGCSE Spanish through Cambridge International (0530) and Edexcel (4SP1). Put the code on the booking form and we confirm within one working day.

Is Spanish worth taking for a native or heritage speaker?

Usually yes, and heritage speakers make up a good share of our Spanish entries. Fluency wins the speaking and listening papers, we tighten the reading and writing to match, and the result is often one of the strongest grades on the certificate.
