GCSE Physics tuition, equations included

At least 30 per cent of GCSE Physics marks are mathematical, so the maths is taught inside the physics: small groups and one-to-one at 2341 Coventry Road, Birmingham and live online, across AQA 8463, Edexcel 1PH0 and OCR Gateway J249. Exam entry runs from the same JCQ-approved centre: £250 at Birmingham, with summer 2027 entries closing on 1 February 2027.

Physics is a maths exam in a lab coat

At least 30 per cent of GCSE Physics marks are mathematical, the highest proportion of the three sciences. Rearranging equations, converting units, reading gradients off graphs: the students who lose grades in physics usually lose them to maths, not to the physics itself. That is why physics has the strongest overlap with our GCSE Maths tuition, and why many families take the two together.

So our physics lessons drill the maths inside the physics. Every calculation topic is taught alongside the method marks it carries, and every answer is set out the way the mark scheme rewards: equation, substitution, answer, unit.

The equations sheet is a strategy, not a comfort

In the exam your board gives you a sheet holding some of the equations; the rest must be recalled from memory. We split your specification's full list into given and must-know on day one, drill the recall set weekly until it is automatic, then train the sheet itself: finding the right equation fast, rearranging it before substituting, and checking the units at the end. Ten minutes of equation fluency is worth a grade on paper two.

Your board's papers, not a generic syllabus

Every lesson runs on past-paper questions from your own specification and tier: AQA 8463, Edexcel 1PH0 or OCR Gateway J249. Required practicals are assessed in the written papers, so most private candidates need nothing extra. Where a route does require a supervised endorsement, we run sessions in May 2027 at £500. It is the same board-specific method that runs across our whole GCSE tuition programme.

Common questions

GCSE Physics, asked and answered

Do I have to memorise every physics equation?

No: some equations are printed on the sheet your board gives you in the exam, and the rest must be recalled from memory. We split your specification's list into given and must-know in the first week and drill the recall set until it is automatic.

How much maths is in GCSE Physics?

At least 30 per cent of the marks are mathematical, more than in biology or chemistry. That is why physics pairs so well with our GCSE Maths tuition and why every calculation is taught with its method marks in view.

Can I sit GCSE Physics without a school or a lab?

Yes. Required practicals are assessed in the written papers, so most private candidates need nothing extra. Where a route does require a supervised endorsement, we run sessions in May 2027 at £500.

Which physics specifications do you teach?

AQA 8463, Edexcel 1PH0 and OCR Gateway J249, at Foundation and Higher tier. Your tutor teaches to the exact specification you will sit, past papers included.
