GCSE French tuition and exam entry
Private candidates can sit every GCSE French paper with us, because the speaking test is conducted and recorded at our own JCQ-approved centre: entry is £450 at Birmingham, all four papers included. Tuition runs one-to-one and in small groups at 2341 Coventry Road, Birmingham and live online, on AQA (8652) and Edexcel (1FR1), and entries for May/June 2027 close on 1 February 2027.
Four papers, four habits, one method
GCSE French is four exams, listening, speaking, reading and writing, each worth 25 per cent. Most students only ever practise the two they like. We refuse to let that happen: every week touches all four skills, built on past papers from your child’s own board and tier rather than a generic syllabus.
Vocabulary comes straight from the specification lists, grammar is drilled little and often, and the speaking exam is rehearsed from week one so the recorded test feels like just another Tuesday. Mark schemes are applied line by line, because knowing how the writing paper awards its marks is worth a grade on its own.

Do you host the GCSE French speaking exam?
Yes. The speaking test is conducted and recorded at our own centre inside the board’s April and May window, so private candidates sit all four components with us and never need to find a school. It is included in the £450 entry fee at Birmingham.
How much does it cost to sit GCSE French as a private candidate?
£450 at our Birmingham centre, covering the board fee, all four papers, the hosted speaking test, invigilation and your seat. Fees are a little higher at our other centres; see the fees page.
Which French exams can I enter with you?
AQA GCSE French (8652) and Edexcel GCSE French (1FR1), Foundation or Higher, plus IGCSE French through Cambridge International (0520) and Edexcel (4FR1). Name the code on the booking form and we confirm within one working day.
When is the deadline for GCSE French 2027?
Entries for the May/June 2027 series close on 1 February 2027. French does not run in the November series, so if the deadline passes you are waiting a full year. Register early.
