GCSE English Literature tuition
Set texts decide GCSE English Literature, so our tuition is built around your child's own texts and board: AQA 8702, Edexcel 1ET0 or OCR J352. Small groups run at 2341 Coventry Road, Birmingham and live online, private candidates can sit the exam here for £300 at Birmingham, and summer 2027 entries close on 1 February 2027.
Know the text, and the essay writes itself
Every exam is closed book, so quotation banks and recall drills are built into the course from week one. Lessons work from the extract outwards: what the question is really asking, which moments of the text pay it best, and how to turn knowledge into an argument rather than a plot summary. Essays are set weekly and marked against the board's own criteria.

Sitting the exam as a private candidate?
You do not need lessons with us to sit GCSE English Literature here. Entry is £300 at Birmingham, with more at our other centres, and it covers the board fee, invigilation and your seat. Literature runs in the summer series only, and entries for May/June 2027 close on 1 February 2027.

Can I resit GCSE English Literature in November?
GCSE English Literature runs in summer only, but Edexcel IGCSE English Literature is available in the November 2026 series at £300 at Birmingham, entries closing 1 October 2026.
Which set texts do you teach?
Whichever texts your child's school follows: Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls and the poetry anthologies are the most requested, and one-to-one covers anything on the AQA, Edexcel or OCR lists.
Is GCSE English Literature closed book?
Yes. Students do not take the texts into the exam on any board we run, which is why quotation banks and recall drills sit at the centre of every course.
Do I need to study with you to sit the exam here?
No. Private candidates enter for £300 at Birmingham, more at our other centres, and we confirm your place within one working day of your booking form arriving.
