Functional Skills ICT assesses the practical digital skills employers actually use: managing files, producing documents, working with spreadsheets, using email and staying safe online, all through hands-on tasks at a computer rather than a written paper. We prepare candidates and host assessments at our Birmingham centre, 2341 Coventry Road, Sheldon, with dates through the year.

What does the Functional Skills ICT assessment involve?
Practical tasks completed at a computer: creating and organising files, producing a document, working with a simple spreadsheet, sending email and showing you can work safely online. There is no essay and no written exam paper, which is why nervous exam-takers often do well here.
I have never been confident with computers. Can I still do this?
Yes, that is exactly who the qualification is designed for. We start from your actual starting point, build the skills hands-on at £40 an hour one-to-one, and only book the assessment when the tasks feel routine. Many of our candidates are adults using a computer properly for the first time.
