A-level Psychology tuition, research methods first
At least a quarter of the marks on AQA 7182 are for research methods, so we drill them every week from the first lesson. A-level Psychology runs in small groups at £25 an hour and one-to-one at £50, at our Birmingham centre at 2341 Coventry Road, Sheldon, and live online, covering AQA 7182, Edexcel 9PS0, OCR H567 and Cambridge International 9990. Private candidates sit the exam at our JCQ-approved centre for £400 at Birmingham, and entries for May and June 2027 close on 1 February 2027.
Describe for six, evaluate for ten
The 16-mark essay is where Psychology grades are decided, and on AQA it splits 6 marks for description against 10 for evaluation. Most students write those proportions backwards. We train the split explicitly: a tight AO1 outline, then evaluation that develops each point rather than listing five half-made ones. Essays are planned, timed and marked to the real levels, cycle after cycle.
Everything runs on past papers from your own board, under time, marked to the real scheme afterwards. Your tutor teaches to your exact specification, whether that is AQA 7182, Edexcel 9PS0, OCR H567 or Cambridge International 9990.
The methods thread never drops
Because research methods and statistics run through every paper, they get a slot in every single week of teaching, not a panicked fortnight before the exam. Biopsychology is taught properly too, which is why the subject pairs so naturally with A-level Biology.

Sitting Psychology as a private candidate?
You do not need to study with us to sit the exam here. Entry is £400 at Birmingham, with fees at our other centres on the fees page. A-level Psychology has no coursework on any board we offer, which makes it one of the cleanest subjects to take as a private candidate or one-year retake. Entries for May and June 2027 close on 1 February 2027.

Is A-level Psychology a science?
It is examined like one: research methods, statistical tests and biopsychology run through every paper, and at least a quarter of the marks on AQA 7182 are for research methods. That is exactly why we give methods a slot in every week of teaching.
Which board do you teach for A-level Psychology?
We teach AQA 7182, Edexcel 9PS0, OCR H567 and Cambridge International 9990, and AQA is by far the most common choice. If you are resitting, we keep you on the board you already know.

How much maths is in A-level Psychology?
At least 10% of the marks use mathematical skills, mostly statistics: choosing the right test, reading tables of critical values and interpreting significance. It is GCSE-level maths, and we practise it inside the weekly research methods drills so it never feels like a separate subject.
