A-level Physics tuition, taught by a physicist
Nick, our Physics subject lead, holds a PhD in Physics from Oxford, and every A-level Physics lesson here runs on past papers from your own exam board, AQA 7408, Edexcel 9PH0, OCR H556 or Cambridge International 9702. We teach in small groups and one-to-one at our Birmingham centre at 2341 Coventry Road, Sheldon, and live online nationwide, group tuition at £25 an hour, and private candidates can sit the exam with us for £400 at Birmingham.
The ideas are rarely the problem. The marks are.
Most students who underperform in A-level Physics understand the concepts perfectly well. They lose marks in the machinery: a rearrangement that goes wrong two lines in, a unit dropped in a multi-step calculation, a “show that” question answered backwards, a six-mark explanation that names the right physics but never chains it into an argument.
So we teach the machinery. From the first month, lessons work through real questions from your board and specification, under time, with the mark scheme applied line by line afterwards. You learn what a mark is actually given for, which is a different skill from knowing physics, and the one the exam measures.
Your board, your question style
Each board asks physics its own way, so your tutor teaches to your exact specification: AQA 7408, Edexcel 9PH0, OCR H556 or Cambridge International 9702. That includes the required practicals, which turn up in written papers as data and method questions, so we treat them as examinable content rather than a box ticked in a lab book.
The maths is half the battle, so we teach it as one subject
At least 40 per cent of the marks in A-level Physics are for mathematical skills. That is written into the specifications, not our opinion. Gradients and areas from graphs, rearranging with confidence, logs, uncertainties: we build the maths into every physics lesson, and many of our physics students take A-level Maths with us for the same reason.

Sitting the exam as a private candidate?
You do not need to study with us to sit A-level Physics here. Entry is £400 at Birmingham, including the board fee, invigilation and your seat, with more at our other centres on the fees page. If your university course needs the practical endorsement, we assess that too, £1,000 at Birmingham. Entries for May and June 2027 close on 1 February 2027.

Do I need A-level Maths to take A-level Physics?
No, no exam board requires A-level Maths alongside Physics. But at least 40 per cent of the physics marks are mathematical, so we build that maths into every lesson, and many students pair Physics with A-level Maths because the two feed each other.
Which physics exam boards do you teach?
We teach AQA 7408, Edexcel 9PH0, OCR H556 and Cambridge International 9702. Your tutor works from your exact specification and its past papers, not a generic physics course.
Can I sit A-level Physics with you as a private candidate?
Yes, private candidates sit A-level Physics at our JCQ-approved Birmingham centre for £400, with more at our other centres, see the fees page. The practical endorsement can be assessed with us for £1,000 if your offer needs it, and entries for May and June 2027 close on 1 February 2027.
How much does A-level Physics tuition cost?
£25 an hour in a small group, which is £200 a month at two hours a week, or £50 an hour one-to-one. Take three subjects and the rate drops to £17.50 an hour, or £12.50 on the full programme.
