Judgement, evidence, argument: A-level History here is taught in small essay-focused groups at £30 an hour, at our Birmingham centre at 2341 Coventry Road, Sheldon, and live online, covering AQA 7042, Edexcel 9HI0, OCR H505 and Cambridge International 9489. Private candidates can also sit the exam at our JCQ-approved centre for £400 at Birmingham, with the History NEA assessed for £350. Entries for May and June 2027 close on 1 February 2027.
Three question types, drilled on your board’s own papers
A-level History marks come from three places: essays that reach a judgement, source questions that weigh provenance as well as content, and interpretation questions that argue with historians rather than summarise them. From the first month, lessons run on past papers from your own board and options, under time, with the mark scheme applied afterwards line by line.
The habit we build hardest is the five-minute plan: judgement first, criteria to test it against, evidence assigned to each paragraph before a word of the answer is written. Students who plan like this stop narrating and start arguing, and the levels-based mark schemes reward exactly that. The same discipline carries straight into A-level English Literature, a natural pairing for essay-strong students.

We assess the History NEA for private candidates for £350, submitted with the May 2027 series on AQA, Edexcel and OCR. Register through the booking form and we confirm the requirements for your board within one working day.
