Exam invigilation services
A-Team Academy provides JCQ-compliant exam invigilation at our own halls in Birmingham, Manchester and London, covering GCSE, IGCSE, AS and A-level papers across AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and Cambridge International. Schools, colleges and music teachers can also block-book our venues with invigilation included, at 2341 Coventry Road in Sheldon, 122 Waterloo Road in Manchester , 305 Soho Road in Handsworth and our seven London centres.
What JCQ-compliant actually means
Every invigilator on our team is trained to the current JCQ Instructions for Conducting Examinations, and we staff written papers at better than the required ratio of one invigilator to every thirty candidates. Question papers sit in JCQ-standard secure storage until the session, desks are laid out to the prescribed spacing, and every hall runs on a seating plan with candidate numbers on the desks.
Incidents are logged, clashes are managed with supervised isolation, and completed scripts are sealed in front of the invigilation team before dispatch. It is deliberately unexciting, which is exactly what an exam hall should be.
Who sits under our invigilation
Most days it is our own private candidates: home-educated students, resitters and adult learners sitting everything from GCSE Maths to A-level Chemistry. But the same halls and the same team are available to organisations.
Schools and colleges use us when they run out of space in a big series, need a separate room for a small cohort, or want somewhere reliable for transferred candidates. Music teachers block-book our Birmingham halls for Trinity graded music exams, bringing a whole studio of students to one organised exam day. Tutors and small providers send us candidates they cannot enter themselves, because as a JCQ-approved centre we can.
Block-book a hall, we run the day
A block booking gets you the venue, the trained invigilation team, the seating plans and the JCQ paperwork in one package, priced per session. You bring the candidates; we handle secure storage, ID checks, the running of the exam and sealed dispatch of scripts. Sessions run at any of our centres, weekdays 9am to 8pm and weekends 10am to 6pm outside timetabled series exams.

Do you provide invigilation for other schools and colleges?
Yes. Schools and colleges can block-book our halls with invigilation included, or transfer candidates to us for a series, and we quote per session. Tell us the series, subjects and candidate numbers through the contact page and we reply within one working day.
Are your invigilators JCQ trained?
Yes. Every invigilator is trained to the current JCQ Instructions for Conducting Examinations and works at better than the required ratio of one invigilator per thirty written-exam candidates, with training refreshed every year.
Can music teachers hire the centre for Trinity exams?
Yes. We are a Trinity-registered centre and music teachers regularly block-book our Birmingham halls for graded music exam days, with the room, scheduling and stewarding handled by our team. See music exams for how sessions work.
What happens if a candidate is taken ill during an exam?
The invigilation team steps in straight away, logs the incident and, where the illness has affected performance, helps the candidate apply for special consideration under the JCQ process. That is one of the reasons trained invigilators matter.
