PTE Academic preparation, scored by machine
PTE Academic is a fully computer-delivered English test of about two hours, scored from 10 to 90 by Pearson’s automated system, with results typically back within two days. A-Team Academy prepares candidates for it at 2341 Coventry Road, Sheldon, Birmingham and live online, one-to-one at £40 an hour. We are not a Pearson test centre: you sit PTE Academic at an official Pearson centre, and we train you for exactly how the computer marks.

PTE runs in three parts, Speaking and Writing together first, then Reading, then Listening, and many tasks are integrated: one read-aloud recording scores your reading and your speaking at the same time. The automated marker rewards steady pace, clear delivery and complete sentences, and it never gets tired or generous. That is good news, because consistent scoring means technique you drill actually shows up in the result.

Can I sit the official PTE Academic test with you?
No. PTE Academic runs only at Pearson’s own test centres, and the UKVI SELT version only at Pearson’s Home Office approved centres, so booking goes through Pearson directly. We are the preparation side: coaching, timed mocks and a straight answer on when your practice scores say you are ready to book.
How is PTE Academic scored?
Every answer is scored by computer on a scale of 10 to 90, with many tasks feeding two skills at once, so one recording can move both your speaking and reading scores. That integrated, automated marking is why we coach delivery and technique so specifically: the engine is consistent, and consistent engines can be prepared for.
How quickly do PTE results come back?
Typically within two days of your sitting, which makes PTE the fastest of the major English tests for results. If an offer deadline is breathing down your neck, that turnaround, plus frequent test dates at Pearson centres, is usually the reason candidates choose it.
